During the month of June, many across Canada celebrate Pride Month. Pride Month is our opportunity to celebrate the diversity of 2SLGBTQ+ communities while also acknowledging their history, the hardships they have endured and the progress that has been made – CBC Saskatchewan.

There are many ways we can celebrate Pride during the month of June, such as: learning about the history of Pride; supporting diverse queer voices; supporting 2SLGBTQ+ businesses, groups and individuals; attending a local event; and, last but not least simply being an ally to individuals who identify as 2SLGBTQ+.

How do 2SLGBTQ+ rights and environmental justice intersect?

“While protecting the planet is of the highest concern in the environmental movement, protecting one another must coincide; we can only work toward these two goals by grasping the interconnectedness of justice at large.” – Sharmon Lebby

The need to protect our planet runs deep in the 2SLGBTQ+ community, with nature represented on the very flag that symbolizes Pride – through the GREEN stripe. Harvey Milk, the first openly gay elected official in the United States and initiator of the pride flag in 1977 advocated on many important issues under the theme of equal rights for the 2SLGBTQ+ community – the environment included (The Rainbow Pride Flag and its Connection to the Environment).

However you choose to celebrate, choose love today and everyday!

Join us for an evening of nature appreciation in celebration of Pride!

In collaboration with Mount Wolfe Farm and Caledon Pride, we’ve planned an evening focused on healing, sustainability, and finding safe spaces within our community. All are welcome, including members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community as well as friends, family and allies.
