Caledon Election Good to Know

Mighty Mayors of Peel unite

At Thursday’s Peel Regional Council meeting a Mississauga councillor introduced a controversial motion asking that costs for any Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) hearing or other legal fights stemming from Caledon’s growth policies be borne by Caledon taxpayers, and not the Region of Peel at large. The Brampton Guardian quoted Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell speaking against the motion and saying “I am sure somewhere in the big book of policies, it says that we will rigorously defend the position of this regional council and we don’t cherry-pick. We took a vote on the official plan of the Region of Peel. We should therefore be defending the decision of the council.” Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion put in her 2 cents, voting against the motion as well. Council voted down the motion 18 to 3. Thanks for leading  the way ladies.
