Hello My Good friend and neighbour,

Thanksgiving has come and gone. Three glorious days of family, friends, food and festivities… the annual Crapulent Olympics have officially concluded.

The competition was fierce, the portions were enormous, and it was a gold-medal performance in excessive eating where absolutely nobody counted calories. A silver-medal performance in excessive visiting, conversations that wandered everywhere, and laughter that probably lasted longer than the dishes should have remained on the table.

The weekend’s Crapulent Olympian events, that drew the cheering crowds, included:

🏅 The Turkey Trot — not an actual race, but the frantic pre-dinner dash around the kitchen.

🏅 The Stuffing Stack — points awarded for structural integrity and reckless height.

🏅 The Gravy Pour — judged on coverage, viscosity and whether anything on the plate remained visible.

🏅 The Pie Division — where “just a sliver” mysteriously becomes an eighth of a pumpkin pie.

🏅 The Leftover Relay — moving turkey from refrigerator to sandwich to casserole to “I can’t possibly eat another bite” to somehow finding room for one more.

🏅 The Couch Collapse — the premier event, requiring absolutely no previous training whatsoever.

And then came perhaps the greatest event of all – the one that earned the True Take-Home Olympian Gold: those countless, wonderfully ordinary, imperfect, traditional and nontraditional moments that somehow become the treasures we never knew we were collecting.

So, as we loosen our waistbands, finish the leftovers and slowly recover from the Crapulent Olympics, perhaps we can carry something far more nourishing with us into the weeks ahead.

Gratitude for the months that have passed.

Appreciation for the people who filled them.

And joy for the weeks still waiting to unfold.

May these remaining weeks be less about racing to the finish line, and more about appreciating how much life has already given us – and noticing what is still being offered.

And if we happen to finish the year a little crapulent…

Well, at least we’ll be doing it with grateful hearts.

It’s a GoNK thing to do…

Go On Now Knowing

Keep Healthy, Stay Safe, Continue Creating Mirific Moments.
