We are halfway through the year already, so it’s a perfect time to recap what’s new and popular at the library.
In terms of popularity, a mix of new releases and old favourites are dominating the checkouts. Thrillers and mysteries remain fan favourites in Caledon, with Louise Penny’s “The Black Wolf” being the most popular title of 2026, halfway through the year. John Grishan’s “The Widow” and Harlan Coben’s “Gone Before Goodbye” follow closely behind in second and third place, respectively. The very popular Freida Mcfadden takes the fourth, fifth, and sixth position in the top 10, with a trio of her suspenseful reads.
Self-improvement titles such as “The Let Them Theory” by Mel Robbins and “Atomic Habits” by James Clear continue their reign at the top of the circulation charts for nonfiction. “Nobody’s Girl” by Virginia Giuffre comes in at third followed by “The Anxious Generation” by Jonathan Haidt and “All the Way to the River” by Elizabeth Gilbert.
New and trending titles include “Yesteryear” by Caro Claire Burke. This uber popular title tells the story of a “tradwife” influencer that suddenly wakes up in the 19th century. A very timely read that is slated to become a movie adaptation starring Anne Hathaway. Elle Kennedy’s, Off-Campus series is also trending at the library, in part due to the immensely popular Amazon Prime adaptation. Other popular titles include “Our Perfect Storm” by Carley Fortune and “The Calamity Club” by Kathryn Stockett.
So, whether you’re looking for a gripping thriller or an inspiring nonfiction read, check out your next great read at the library!
Our Library of Things (LoT) collection is also growing with the addition of multiple new items including our Pickleball Kits. We have also added Envoy Connects to our collection, funded through a donation from the Friends of Caledon Library. These are easy to use, portable devices for reading accessible audiobooks. They will be preloaded with a curated list of audiobooks, downloaded from the Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) website, based on genre. More new LoTs will be added throughout the year, so make sure to check our website for any new additions.
Happy Reading!
