Caledon Community Services reports they have been selected for the new Youth Job Connection Program

Information for YOUTH:

The Youth Job Connection (YJC) program offers specialized support to youth, ages 15 to 29, who are not in work, school or training and who face complex or multiple barriers to employment.

YJC consist of 4 components. Youth participants must take part in the first 3:

  1. Participant evaluation and action plan development supporting career, employment, training and education goals.
  2. Paid pre-employment training, workshops and activities to promote job-readiness (minimum 60 hours),
  3. Job matching and paid placement with an employer for on-the-job training (maximum 26 weeks),
  4. If needed, mentorship and education and work transitions support.

Eligibility Requirements:

¨ Between 15 and 29 years old at the time of registration
¨ Live in Ontario
¨ Have the right to work in Canada
¨ Unemployed
¨ Not participating in full-time training or education

Young people

Information for EMPLOYERS:

The Youth Job Connection (YJC) program offers specialized support to youth, ages 15 to 29, who are not in work, school or training and who face complex or multiple barriers to employment.

Employers who want to participate in the Job Matching portion of the program, must agree to:

¨ Provide on-the-job training to a young participant (max.of 26 weeks),
¨ Commit to giving support and training to the young participant in the work environment, helping them to develop skills and knowledge,
¨ Financial incentives are given to employers to help off-set the costs
associated with training and supervising participants.

Eligibility Requirements:

¨ Licensed to operate in Ontario
¨ Comply with workplace, human rights and labour legislation
¨ Have workplace safety and liability insurance
¨ Offer job opportunities in Ontario
¨ All eligible employers are welcome to apply, but priority will be given to youth-friendly employers, who are recognized for supporting young workers.
