Bolton Regional Councillor Good to Know

Winter Storm Update

Winter Storm UPDATE (6:30 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2013)

CALEDON, ONTARIO — Caledon Fire and Emergency Services have responded to a large volume of emergency incidents since the storm started, nearing 100 calls during the past 24 hours. The majority of the response calls continue to be in relation to hydro pole fires, wires down and hydro wires arching.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

The Town of Caledon Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) is operational at Town Hall, (6311 Old Church Road, Caledon) and is in contact with local and regional emergency management centres for the purpose of monitoring activity and calls.

Citizens are advised to stay clear from all downed hydro wires and to avoid travel as clean-up continues. Members of the public who must travel are advised to use extreme caution.

Due to extreme weather conditions, Town of Caledon Public Works road crews are taking all necessary measures and working around the clock to ensure the safety and well-being of the public.

Town of Caledon Communications has been coordinating the distribution of facility closure information with the media, Members of Council and Town staff, and will continue to do so throughout the day, night and into Monday morning.
