Winners of CPL’s Elizabeth Scavetta Memorial Teen Short Story Contest

Submitted to Just Sayin' Caledon

Caledon Public Library (CPL) celebrates the 17th anniversary of the Elizabeth Scavetta Memorial Teen Short Story contest and announces its local winners of this year’s competition:

1st Place: Popular by Saksia Coossa

2nd Place: A Fake Death Turned Real by Neela Jalilian

3rd Place: The Writer by Lukas Coossa

“We were thrilled to receive such creative submissions from our local teens”, says Laura Groe, Manager of CPL’s Youth Services. “You never know who will become a best-selling author in the future.”

This contest was named in memory of Elizabeth Scavetta, a promising, gifted young writer who placed first in the inaugural Caledon Public Library Teen Short Story Contest in 2003. Elizabeth Scavetta died in a car crash in 2004.

Stories by this year’s winners can be found online at https://cpl.social/teen-short-story.
