Note: While the meeting mentioned below has already occurred there is one more scheduled for Monday, June 10 from 7-9 p.m. at Caledon East Community Complex, 6215 Old Church Rd., Caledon East

A proposed development of five 18-32 storey apartment buildings on the east side of Hwy 50 at Industrial Road in Bolton (see concept plan above) is one of the 12 development applications that Caledon’s mayor is looking to expedite using strong mayor powers. This is file 2024-0014 (A10 on the map below).

Together, with the 440-acre proposed development a bit further north that straddles Hwy 50 at Emil Kolb Parkway (file 2024-0010, A3 on the map below), these two applications alone have the potential to add significant pressure to traffic on Hwy 50.

Traffic impacts, hard and soft infrastructure, and financial implications for property taxes, for all 12 of the proposals, are just some of the issues that residents tell us they feel they need, and deserve, definitive answers on.

With summer vacations lining up right around the corner many residents feel the right thing for the Town to do is to hit pause until the fall so they are not excluded from the process. They feel that planning the community without the community is not the way to go.

The Bolton public information meeting is at 7:00pm tomorrow, May 23rd, at the Albion Bolton Community Centre, 150 Queen Street south, Bolton. Doors open at 6:30pm. If you have concerns about the impacts of these developments on your quality of life in Caledon then come prepared to ask questions and to insist on definitive and acceptable answers. And to ask for the time you need to incorporate your input into these decisions.
