Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment

Caledon Fire and Emergency Services Announces Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Dates

The Town of Caledon is proud of its volunteer firefighters. Caledon Fire and Emergency Services is seeking individuals who are enthusiastic, driven, disciplined, compassionate, respectful, committed to learning and work well in a team environment.

Caledon Fire and Emergency Services invites interested candidates to attend an orientation meeting at the Caledon East Fire Station at 6085 Old Church Rd. on one of the following dates:

 Monday, March 4, 2013, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
 Saturday, March 23, 2013, 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
 Monday, March 25, 2013, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“Our orientation meetings are intended to provide prospective candidates with an overview of the Fire Department, the type of emergencies encountered, and the duties of a firefighter,” said Fire Chief Terry Irwin. “We’re inviting prospective candidates to come and meet with us in an informal setting; to get to know our team and to discuss with us the high level of commitment and standards that come with the job.”

Volunteer firefighters protect their communities by attending emergency and non-emergency responses including structural, vehicle and wild land fires; medical emergencies; vehicle, machinery and other rescue calls; alarm activations and investigations; and other public calls requiring assistance. Volunteer firefighters develop and maintain an acceptable level of training, knowledge and skill sets as required for the job and the rewards of protecting our community.

All volunteer firefighter candidates must attend one of the sessions in order to be pre-screened, and applications will be handed out at the orientation sessions. Candidates must meet minimum requirements. For more information on these requirements, and about working for Caledon’s Fire and Emergency Services, please visit www.caledon.ca/recruitment
