Bolton Regional Councillor Good to Know

Udderly Wonderful Weekend!

This weekend marked the 154th Bolton Fall Fair and it was one of the best ever! Friday night I felt very honoured to be on the stage for the Grand Opening and to hear the candidates for Fair Ambassador speak.  What an amazing group of young women!

My husband and I stayed for the Demolition Derby and, as always, it was very loud and very entertaining. Last year it had poured buckets so this year the cool and clear Friday evening was really welcomed.

On Saturday we checked out the Caledon Cruisers Car Show and enjoyed seeing cars that included a Model T, a Corvette, Ford Fairlanes, Chevelles, Javelins, Mustangs, an El Camino, a Galaxy 500, and many more. As part of a Canadian Cancer Society fundraiser I was “arrested and jailed” at the Fair along with Councillors Mezzapelli and McClure and we raised over $1,000 in the “Jail n’ Bail”.

On Sunday I was joined by Regional Chair Emil Kolb, and Councillors deBoer and Mezzapelli in the Cow Milking Competition. A big shout-out to Roy Westlake for supplying his cows for the event. It was close but our team hand-ily beat both the Firefighter team and the Fair Board team – udderly amazing!

Then we headed over to watch the Tug-of-Wars between some of the local schools. There were also pet shows, exhibits and of course the thrill of the midway. And whether you ventured into the midway and saw the world through the eyes of a child, or headed over to see the dairy show and exhibits and saw the world through the eyes of your local farm community, it really was a wonderful weekend. A big thank you to the Fair Board, Volunteers, Vendors, and all, for connecting Caledon communities!
