The Town of Caledon is continuing to meet essential municipal service requirements while experiencing increased staff absences due to the Omicron variant.
“We’re working through COVID-19 challenges impacting our employees such as illness, isolations and caregiving by redeploying staff to areas of greatest need,” said Mayor Allan Thompson. “We’re asking for the public’s patience as they might experience delays in some service areas.”
The Operations department, which is responsible for plowing and/or clearing Town roads and sidewalks, is currently experiencing staffing shortages due to the pandemic.
Provincial maintenance standards will continue to be met for winter maintenance of roads and sidewalks but there may be some delays at this time. Residents are asked to be patient and leave enough room for plows to get by.
During severe weather, it is advised to stay off the roads as much as possible. If driving is necessary, do so according to weather and road conditions.
The Town is confident their continuity plan will help meet these recent challenges. Caledon declared a state of emergency in early 2020 which remains in place like Peel Region and the province.
