Belfountain Public School to be Inducted into Stewardship Grove

In recognition of their contribution to the stewardship of Caledon’s natural environment, the Belfountain Public School was chosen by Caledon’s Environmental Advisory Committee (CEAC) as the Environmentalist of the Year for 2014. The Belfountain Public School will be inducted into the CEAC Stewardship Grove on the Trans-Canada Trail in Caledon East on June 25, 2014. A small ceremony will start at 6:30 pm.

The Belfountain Public School is an early adopter of Education for Sustainable Development, using sustainability as an integrating context for teaching and learning, decision-making, civic engagement, community partnerships and campus practices.

Additionally, at the June 25 ceremony, the Belfountain Public School will present the Caledon Hills Bruce Trail Club with a $500 Annual Environmentalism Recognition Award in recognition of their Caledon-based environmental stewardship efforts.

CEAC established the “Environmentalist of the Year” award in 1997 to recognize individuals or organizations that have made an outstanding contribution to environmental stewardship in the Town of Caledon.
