Bolton Regional Councillor Good to Know

Police Academy for Civilians

A great opportunity awaits Caledon citizens wanting to know more about the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). On May 15th, the Caledon Detachment will launch a 7-week Police Academy for civilians.

The successful applicants will attend weekly evening classes and they will be taught the history of the OPP, how criminal investigations are conducted from start to finish and several other interesting police related topics. The successful applicants will also receive instruction from Scenes of Crime Officers, traffic and motor vehicle collision investigations and other experts in their respective fields of policing.

Applicants are requested to submit a 500 word essay stating their reasons for wishing to participate in the Caledon OPP Civilian Academy. Applicants will be carefully screened and are subject to a Criminal Record Check. The Civilian Academy will be restricted to 20 Caledon residents who have no previous volunteer experience with the Caledon Detachment of the OPP.

Please forward your letter of interest by May 1st, 2013 to brenda.evans@ontario.ca or contact 905-584-2241 for more information.
