Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Today I was unequivocally cleared on conflict of interest allegations by Justice Daley of the Ontario Superior Court. And even though it was the outcome I expected, I can tell you that I am overwhelmingly relieved.
This has been a difficult time for my entire family. They have been exposed to gossip, false and unfounded rumours and misleading, attention grabbing headlines.
I’m forever grateful to my wife Anne, my children James and Julia, my parents, siblings, my friends and members of the community for standing by me.
Regardless of this distraction, Council and I have been able to accomplish a great deal in the first half of this term of Council. Our Council Workplan outlines an ambitious list of key priorities, many of which are well underway. I remain committed on driving these forward.
As tough as this time has been, it’s helped me to remember what’s really important and what’s worth fighting for. My integrity, reputation, my family’s good name and my community, they are always worth fighting for.
Thanks for your support and friendship.
Allan Thompson
Mayor, Town of Caledon
