Christmas Tree Lighting in Palgrave happening again!

ChuckwagonThe Palgrave Christmas Tree Lighting is back! The Palgrave Rotary Club is glad to announce that the popular annual event at Stationland Park in Palgrave can happen again on December 4th, 2021. The event will start at 5:45 pm with the lighting of Sarah’s Tree and finish around 8.30 pm. Santa Claus is expected to make his appearance during the evening and pictures can be taken with safety measures in place.

As always, there will be a home decoration contest. The jury is making her rounds the evening before the event. All decorated houses in the subdivision behind the Palgrave Public School will be evaluated and have a chance to win one of the two prizes and the trophy.

CHristmas trees for saleThe highlight of this year’s Christmas Tree Lighting will be a Christmas Idol Show with contributions from local junior singers. Children and teenagers aged from 8 to 16 years can sign up to present two Christmas songs at nicholepiluso@gmail.comand win one of the prizes. A jury consisting of Girl Guides and other Palgrave residents will evaluate each contribution and elect the “Palgrave Christmas Idol”.

The Rotary Chuckwagon will be on site to serve hot dogs and hot drinks while the Girl Guides and the Ontario Rural Skills Network will offer various crafts activities.

Christmas trees and poinsettias will be sold during the Birch Shoppe Christmas Market on the following weekend, December 11th from 10 am to 3 pm. Trees ($60) and poinsettias ($35) can be preordered with Angie McDowell (angie.mcdowell.family@gmail.com, 905 251 4581) until December 2nd. The chuckwagon will be on site to provide food and drinks.
