On March 31st 2022 the Town of Caledon announced it would start a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) to look into improvements to Glasgow Road between Chickadee Lane and Deer Valley Drive.
The purpose of the study is to identify a recommended design for Glasgow Road that addresses the increasing wear and tear associated with population growth while enhancing road safety, improving traffic operations and connectivity for all users.
In developing a recommended design, the study will consider a range of options for the road including but not limited to:
- Road rehabilitation
- Road and intersection improvements
- Active transportation (pedestrian and cyclist) amenities
- Drainage improvements
Within the study limits, Glasgow Road will retain the two general-purpose lanes, however various options will be evaluated to enhance safety, improve traffic operations and to better accommodate all road users.
The project was initiated as a Schedule A+ Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, however, has since been elevated to a Schedule “B” project in accordance with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 & 2015). As such, public and technical agency consultation will play a key role in developing the study recommendations. The purpose of this Schedule “B” Municipal Class Environmental Assessment is to identify the required improvements to the roadway, enhance safety, improve traffic operations, and better accommodate pedestrians and cyclists
Notice of Virtual Public Information Centre #1 (PIC)
A virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) will be held on January 30, 2023 from 6pm to 7pm to present the study to date, including the problem/opportunity, existing conditions and identify the alternative solutions being considered. Below is the meeting link:
