Below is a letter from Wanda Buote, Chair of Caledon Community Services’ Board of Directors.
It is with mixed emotions that I announce that our Chief Executive Officer, Monty Laskin, informed me a few weeks ago that he is resigning from Caledon Community Services after providing visionary leadership for 16 years. On behalf of the Board of Directors and our entire organization, I want to extend our deepest gratitude to Monty for his leadership, commitment to excellence for CCS and for Caledon and for the diligence with which he worked on behalf of our organization.
Monty’s tenure has been marked by a tremendous amount of growth and innovation in Caledon Community Services. Under his leadership we have created new health and social service programs in response to emerging community needs. His drive and persistence resulted in the development of strong relationships with all levels of government, the United Way of Greater Toronto, Foundations, private donors and generous Caledon businesses and residents.
Monty was always one to promote the development of his staff team and together they have launched new programs in youth employment, settlement, language instruction for newcomers, seniors’ health care, accessible transportation, and poverty reduction. Monty always looked for ways to deploy CCS resources in the service of other organizations and many of Caledon’s community services strengthened their relationships with CCS through his efforts to forge strong links with sister agencies, the Town of Caledon, schools, faith groups and more.
Monty has developed a strong senior leadership team that has remained intact for many years and grown professionally under his mentoring. The Board’s first order of business now will be to transition to new leadership. To that end, the Board will undergo a rigorous search to fill this critical role for CCS.
Over the past few weeks, the Board of Directors established a hiring plan that will engage a search firm. We will also gather internal and external stakeholder input as we seek to secure Monty’s replacement.
We are confident a qualified, capable leader can be hired in the upcoming months and grateful that Monty will support this process up to his departure which is planned for April 28, 2023.
Please join me in extending to Monty all good wishes in the way ahead and continued successes as he embraces new opportunities in this next chapter of his career. His pursuit of excellence in CCS has positioned us extremely well to maintain a strong organization to serve Caledon in the many years ahead.
