Learn More About GTA West Corridor Repercussions

The Community Climate Council (Peel) in partnership with Environmental Defence invites you to a 2-part webinar about the repercussions of the GTA West corridor (also referred to as Hwy 413)

Already rejected once, Highway 413 is again being proposed as the GTA West Transportation Corridor project that cuts across the Greenbelt (a strip of ‘permanently’ protected green space), productive farmlands, wetlands, and forests. What’s worse is that, despite its evident environmental impacts, the Provincial Government is making plans to speed up the environmental assessment process, which is required for approval and berfore the project’s construction.

Rushing through the environmental assessment, and moving forward with a project that was already once deemed as a threat to our climate, especially without understanding its impacts, demonstrates the lack of concern for our youth.

The Community Climate Council, in partnership with Environmental Defence, is hosting a two-part webinar to educate our fellow youth and community members about the repercussions of this highway, brainstorm solutions for advocacy in opposition and specify a call for action.

Join us on Tuesday, February 23rd, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm,where we discuss the ways this Highway impacts the different Regions it cuts across (Halton Region, Peel Region, and York Region) and what community members are already doing to protect their precious, immediate environment.

Join us (again!) on Thursday, February 25th, from 6:30 pm to 7:30pm, where we will listen from a panel of experts about the different causes for concerns this Highway presents and solidify our efforts for collective action.
