Get ready to hike the Caledon Trailway on Sunday, May 5, in support of the 14th Annual Hike for Bethell Hospice. Held each year during National Hospice & Palliative Care Week, the hike is a signature event for Bethell Hospice Foundation, raising awareness and funds for palliative care in our community.

This year’s goal is to raise $245,000 through a combination of sponsorships, pledges, and donations. Funds raised ensure Bethell Hospice programs and services are available for the next families in need. In the words of a 2023 hike participant, “Bethell Hospice is one of the services that really helps people who are in their final few weeks. We thought the hike was a great way to help raise funds needed by the hospice.”

Participants will meet at the Lloyd Wilson Centennial Arena in Inglewood and walk along the Caledon Trailway, hiking in memory of those who were residents at Bethell Hospice, friends, and family members.

Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. followed by opening ceremonies at 9:00 a.m. The hike is an accessible, five-kilometre walk with a post-hike lunch sponsored by Palgrave Rotarians and Maple Lodge Farms.

Although there is no cost to register, participants are encouraged to pre-register, gather pledges of support, and fundraise for the hike. The online site to register or donate to a hiker is hikeforbethellhospice.ca. Virtual hikers can complete their own hike anytime, anywhere with donations accepted until the end of May 2024.

Hike for Bethell Hospice is generously supported by Platinum Level sponsors – Access Storage, Benson Steel; Brampton Funeral Home & Cemetery/Scott Funeral Home-Brampton Chapel; Egan Funeral Home; Fines Ford Lincoln; Meadowvale Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centres; Rotary Club of Brampton; and Town of Caledon. There are many Gold, Silver, Bronze, Gift Matching and Route sponsors also involved with the hike.

All hike proceeds benefit Bethell Hospice Foundation. Bethell Hospice is the only hospice residence serving Caledon, Brampton, and Dufferin County.  Bethell Hospice also provides community programs such as support groups, one on one counselling, Art & Music Therapy, Therapeutic Touch, and In-Home Volunteer Visiting supportive therapy.
