Town of Caledon Responds to Ice Storm – UPDATE
The Town of Caledon continues to deal with widespread power outages and winter storm conditions. Town of Caledon crews are working to clear downed trees and debris from roads and sidewalks.
Caledon Fire and Emergency Services have responded to a number of incidents including carbon monoxide incidents, house fires and chimney fires.
Caledon Fire urges the public to NOT bring portable generators and barbecues indoors to prevent indoor fires and the build up of carbon monoxide. Caledon Fire is also monitoring local seniors residences.
Residents who lack heat can attend warming centres at:
Town Hall – 6311 Old Church Road in Caledon East, just west of Innis Lake Road
Caledon Centre for Recreation and Wellness (CCRW), 14111 Regional Road 50 North, Bolton
Mayfield Recreation Centre, 12087 Bramalea Road
Residents are advised to please refrain from non-essential travel and exercise extreme caution in and around trees and power lines as falling branches continue to pose a serious hazard.
To report downed power lines please call Hydro One at 800-434-1235. For status of power outages and estimated times of restoration, visit the Hydro One web site at www.hydroone.com.
For downed trees on roads or sidewalks that DO NOT involve hydro lines, please call Town of Caledon Customer Service at 905.584.2272 x. 4636.
