The 13th Annual Hike for Bethell Hospice is on Sunday, May 7th in Inglewood at the Lloyd Wilson Centennial Arena. Held each year during National Hospice & Palliative Care Week, the hike is an important event for Bethell Hospice Foundation, raising awareness and funds for hospice palliative care in our community.
The goal this year is to raise $255,000 through a combination of sponsorships, pledges and donations.
Kelly Stronach, Senior Manager of Marketing & Communications at Bethell Hospice Foundation, explains, “Bethell Hospice is a place of caring, compassion, love, empathy, respect, and peace. We are grateful for those who believe in the importance of Bethell Hospice in our community, and by participating in the hike, they ensure Bethell Hospice programs and services will be here for the next families in need.”
Hikers will meet at the arena in Inglewood and walk along the Caledon Trail, hiking in memory of a friend or family member. The hike celebrates not only those who were residents at Bethell Hospice, but all those who are loved and remembered.
Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. with opening ceremonies starting at 9:00 a.m.
The hike is an accessible, five kilometre walk followed by a post-hike lunch prepared by Palgrave Rotarians and Maple Lodge Farms.
Registration is $25 (free for youth 18 & under), and includes a limited edition hike t-shirt and a registration kit.
Hikers are encouraged to gather pledges of support, and to post inspirational messages and photos on the Memory Board.
