Know someone who has made an exceptional effort toward our “natural heritage”?
The Caledon Environmental Advisory Committee (CEAC) is seeking nominations from the public for the 16th Environmentalist of the Year Award – the due date for nominations is Friday, March 23, 2012.
This Award encourages environmental stewardship in Caledon and provides recognition for outstanding community efforts. CEAC grants the Award to a Caledon resident, business or organization that has made a significant effort to protect, enhance or restore the natural heritage of Caledon.
The Environmentalist of the Year receives a certificate at the Town’s annual Volunteer and Citizen Achievement Awards event in April. Also, the winner’s name is added to the commemorative rock in the CEAC Stewardship Grove on the Trans-Canada Trail in Caledon East.
The Environmentalist of the Year will also be given the honour of directing a $500 Annual Environmentalism Recognition Award (AERA) to their favourite Caledon-based environmental stewardship project.
If you know someone who deserves this recognition please nominate them.
The nominee must satisfy the following two criteria:
Is either a Caledon resident, a Caledon-based organization, or a Caledon-based business; and
Is not a current member of Caledon Town Council or CEAC, and has not been for the previous two years.

Has contributed to the protection, restoration or enhancement of the physical environment in Caledon; or
Has raised awareness about the environment and promoted the adoption of sustainable activities by the public; or
Has implemented innovative approaches to the sustainable use and management of natural resources in Caledon; or
Has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to the improvement of Caledon’s environment; or
