The Town of Caledon received two Excellence in Economic Development Awards on September 20,2023 from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) at the IEDC Annual Conference. These awards celebrate the Town’s leadership on an international stage in advancing community vitality and livability – key drivers of local economic growth.

The Town was awarded bronze in the following categories:

  • Multimedia/Video Promotion: Better Cities for Pets
  • Neighbourhood Development: Downtown Bolton Revitalization

“We are proud to be recognized alongside our international colleagues in Economic Development,” said Amanda St. John, Manager, Business Attraction & Investment. “This acknowledgement highlights the impact of the Town’s efforts in building community vibrancy to make Caledon an ideal destination for top talent and new investment.”

About the winning projects

Better Cities for Pets: In April of 2023, The Town of Caledon was designated a Mars Canada ‘Better City for Pets’. The Town launched a promotional video of pet-friendly places in Caledon from a dog’s-eye view. The aim of this campaign was to instill pride in Caledon residents, promote Caledon as a pet-friendly place for future residents and visitors and begin a registry of local, pet-friendly businesses.

Downtown Bolton Revitalization: Adopted by Council on March 30, 2021, the Downtown Bolton Revitalization Plan was implemented by the Town and a Task Force of committed residents, partners and stakeholders. The goal of the plan is to improve the historic downtown area for residents, business owners and visitors. As of 2023, substantial progress towards these goals has been made.
