CPL Offers the Opportunity to Read Away Your Fines on Children’s Materials

Submitted to Just Sayin' Caledon

Do you love reading but struggle with returning your books on time? On March 1st, Caledon Public Library (CPL) is launching the Great Read Away Fines Program for Children, a fun and easy way for kids, babies to 12 years, to use the power of reading to clear fines from their card.

For every 30 minutes spent reading anywhere, at your favourite library branch, at home, school, etc., $1.00 will be credited towards fines on children’s materials.

“Often fines create a deterrent, especially for children, from using the library”, said Laura Groe, Manager, Youth Services at Caledon Public Library. “CPL is committed to every child having a library card with access to books, music, and all the information and technology needed for discovery and learning.”

Children wishing to participate can track their time using the online reading program, READsquared. Simply go to caledonlibrary.readsquared.com or download the READsquared app to create an account. More details can be found at http://www.caledon.library.on.ca/readawayfines

Grab a book, get comfy, and watch your fines fly away!
