Here are some examples of current programming at PUCK:
The Buckstown Café
The Buckstown Café is a free drop-in event every Tuesday from 10 am to 12 pm. Enjoy conversation, cards or table games, and community connection. PUCK provides free coffee, tea, cold drinks, and light snacks. No registration required. The café is a fully accessible, secular space located within the Palgrave United Church.
Seniors Month Celebration – a special event on Tuesday, June 23
To celebrate Seniors Month in June, the café will be hosting a special event on Tuesday, June 23. In addition to snacks featuring local fare, certified forest meditation leader Janette Cridmore will speak about the health benefits of forest bathing and lead a short walk to the Palgrave Pond to provide an orientation to this practice for those who are interested in exploring this popular activity further.
Nordic Walking
A congenial group meets for Nordic walking every Monday at 10 am at the Hwy 50 entrance to the Palgrave Forest (west side, just north of Zimmerman Drive) for an hour-long trek through the forest. Poles can be provided if you would like to join without committing to equipment.
Community Cooking Club
The Community Cooking Club is a diverse group who gather monthly to cook a healthy plant-based meal, normally on the last Thursday of each month. Most of the production is packaged in serving portions and delivered to the Exchange Food Bank to be frozen and distributed to clients, however participants also enjoy tasting their creation at a group lunch. All levels of cooking experience welcome! To be added to the roster, contact carolynvallejo50@gmail.com.
