Chamber Music Performance at St. James

Submitted to Just Sayin' Caledon

On Sunday, August 21, the community is invited to enjoy a special performance of chamber music by the CAN-AM Trio, featuring oboists Geralyn Giovannetti, Sarah Hamilton, and English hornist Anna Mattix.

Chamber music is written for a small group of instruments, originally intended to be played in small chambers or rooms.  It has been described as an intimate musical conversation, and the ‘music of friends’.

Both Geralyn and Sarah are Canadian citizens, and Anna is American, hence the name of their trio.  The CAN-AM trio received a Canada Council grant which enabled them to commission Canadian composers to write specifically for them.  Summer concerts will feature historical and contemporary works, including new works by Elizabeth Raum, one of Canada’s more eminent composers, and Shreya Jha, and up and coming young artist of distinction, both living in the GTA.

Admission is ‘pay what you can’ at the door. Proceeds support the work of the church.  St. James has ample parking and is fully accessible.
