Town of Caledon Firefighters hosting Carwash to benefit Muscular Dystrophy – Saturday, June 22

Calling all dirty vehicles! This Saturday, June 22, 2013, Caledon Firefighters invite you to bring your family down to the 8th Annual Fundraising Car Wash to benefit Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

Let’s Make Muscles Move!
When: Saturday, June 22, 2013, 10:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Where: Canadian Tire Parking Lot, 99 McEwan Drive E., Bolton

Muscular Dystrophy is the name for a group of neuromuscular disorders that are characterized by progressive weakness and wasting of the voluntary muscles that control body movement. As muscle tissue weakens and wastes away, it is replaced by fatty and connective tissue.
Canadian Firefighters have played an integral role for Muscular Dystrophy Canada since 1954, when a group of parents with children who were affected by Muscular Dystrophy approached a Fire Department and requested assistance in raising funds. With the Firefighters leading the way, Muscular Dystrophy Canada conducted the first residential canvas in Toronto, and raised more than $200,000 for research. The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) pledged their continuing support “until a cure is found.” Since that time, Muscular Dystrophy Canada has become a National Organization supported by more than 600 Fire Departments and Associations across Canada, who currently raise close to $3.2 million dollars annually – for a total of over $75 million since 1954.
“Every year, we’ve made it a tradition to get out in the community and support Muscular Dystrophy Canada through this car wash,” said Deputy Chief Darryl Bailey. “We love seeing families come out for some fun, getting their vehicles cleaned up by the Firefighters – it’s going to be a great weekend and I invite you to come out and see us in Bolton.”
Bring in your vehicle to be washed; your donation will be greatly appreciated.
