Caledon OPP Looking for Assistance from the Public

LOOKING FOR INFORMATION FROM THE PUBLIC

(CALEDON, ON) – On November 23, 2013 at 06:42 am, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting stationary traffic enforcement on Airport Road south of Finnerty Side Road. The officer observed a small dark automobile traveling southbound at a rate of 143 km/hr. in a posted 80 km/hr. zone. As a result, the officer activated the marked cruiser’s emergency equipment and pulled onto the roadway a short distance behind the suspect vehicle. The officer observed as the vehicle continued southbound at a high rate of speed and failed to stop for traffic signals. The officer turned off the vehicle’s emergency equipment as a public safety measure and continued in the same direction. A short distance later, the officer approached a silver Volkswagen vehicle pulled over to the side of the roadway facing south and upon speaking with the driver learned that they had been struck by the suspect vehicle

Police are asking for assistance from the public to help identify the suspect vehicle and driver. The suspect vehicle is a small dark automobile comparable in size to a Honda Civic.
