Last June I was fortunate to interview outstanding Caledon athlete Michael Bobak. The 17-year old kicker had earned himself the opportunity to represent Team Ontario in the 2015 Spalding Cup. That Just Sayin’ Caledon interview gave us insight into this young man’s determination and love of the game.
In a recent follow-up Just Sayin’ learned that Bobak was also selected for FootBall University (FBU)’s Top Gun Camp. In addition, he has been selected to be the U17 Punter Kicker for the 2016 International Bowl to be held Sunday, Jan. 31; Wednesday, Feb. 3; and Friday, Feb. 5, at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington Texas.
The games are a collaboration of USA Football and Football Canada – the sport’s national governing bodies in each country – along with the International Federation of American Football, featuring top student-athletes in football’s greatest annual international competition.
Bobak’s goals remain the same – to make it to a Division 1 University then on to the Pro’s. But right now he is looking forward to having a great time in Texas representing Canada….and Caledon.
And probably hoping that the Scouts are watching….
