Caledon Firefighters Challenge at Snowfest

Town of Caledon Firefighters to Participate in Firefighter Challenge at 2013 SnowFest

On February 18, 2013, Family Day in Ontario, members of the Town of Caledon Fire and Emergency Services department will participate in the Firefighter Challenge at the annual SnowFest event, hosted at the Caledon Fairgrounds in Caledon Village. The event is a celebration of winter fun for the entire family.

The SnowFest team has put together a large-scale event dedicated to healthy winter fun, exercise and competition. Activities include snowshoeing and dog sledding demos, horse drawn sleigh rides, ice sculptures and a children’s snow castle competition, plus a special “chilly” cook- off involving service clubs and community organizations. The Firefighter Challenge is a fun challenge for local firefighters to get out and put their athletic skills into action, while being cheered on by friends and family.

“Our Firefighters are an integral part of the Caledon community, so we’re pleased to take part in SnowFest Firefighter Challenge,” said Fire Chief Terry Irwin. “It’s a fun, family event for our whole community, and we’re expecting a great turn-out again this year. Come and cheer on the Challenge participants, meet our firefighters and learn about our Fire and Emergency Services and the work that we do in Caledon.”

Admission is free to the public with gates open from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Town Officials will be on hand during the Opening Ceremonies slated to take place at 12:00 p.m.

The Caledon Fairgrounds are located on Highway 10 (Hurontario Street), just south of Highway 24 (Charlestown Sideroad) in Caledon Village.
