Bolton Regional Councillor Good to Know

Bringing Bolton Camp Back to Life

Toronto and Region Conservation is proposing to repurpose Bolton Camp from its previous use as an overnight summer camp for youth and families of Toronto to an outdoor centre for participants of all ages. Proposed programming at the new Bolton Camp will include adventure, sports and fitness activities, community art and culture programs, outdoor education and training, leadership development and social entrepreneurship opportunities.

Our vision for this new facility is that of a place where people come together to learn, live, play and share in experiences. Think of a community centre turned inside out.

The New Bolton Camp may have sports fields, a gymnasium, pool, green fitness equipment, yoga classes, running clinics, an outdoor community kitchen, smoothie or coffee bar, tree-top tours/canopy tours, ropes courses, theatre and art spaces, retail or market space and outdoor classrooms/collaboration spaces.

Our view is that for the New Bolton Camp to be successful, programming should be community driven and responsive to the needs of all members of our community. This will take a different operating approach. We intend to open Bolton Camp up to a range of potential partners and contributors, including social enterprises, youth entrepreneurs and others, to take a shared stake in the success of this community venture and asset. Which is why your feedback is vital – your input will help shape the future of Bolton Camp and the programs we can provide there together.

  • Patti, This is a fascinating possibility and I was especially attracted by the colourful proposed land use map. However after replying to the “monkey survey” I no longer seem to be able to access the Bolton Camp map. Is there a hard copy available or can you resend me the information With access to the map? See you Wednesday at 1 p.m. Jerry
