A Chance for Winter Fun!

Looking to enjoy winter now that it’s arrived? Check out this event sent along by Humber Valley Heritage Trail Association (HVHTA)……..

HUMBER VALLEY X-COUNTRY SKI / HIKE

TIMING: Saturday, February 16, 9:30 am (1.5-2 hrs)

DESCRIPTION: The group will split in two – hikers and skiers. With access to 200 hectares of conservation land, this is a great opportunity to get out on your skis. Scenic trails through open fields and forests with gentle slopes provide a great opportunity for fresh air and enjoyment of nature. We’ll ski/hike for 1.5 hours but you are welcome to stay longer. This is perfect terrain for cross country skiing!

Whether waxed or waxless, old or young, come out and enjoy the winter wonderland on your skis. Assistance will be available for both equipment and technique.

Please contact hike leader early with your preference for hiking or skiing.

Note re weather conditions: in the event of inadequate snow for skiing, an email will be send to members either revising the location or changing the event to hiking only.

HIKE LEADER: Barry Westhead is a founder & Past President of HVHTAK. He lives next door to the Nashville Tract conservations lands, and so you might see him hiking, running or skiing out there on any given day!

DIRECTIONS:

We will be exploring conservation lands northwest of Kleinburg in the Nashville Tract. From Kleinburg, drive north on Hwy 27 to first traffic lights north of town. Turn left (west) onto Kirby Road, and drive a short distance to the dead end. Park about 50 feet back from end of road, away from “no parking” signs.
