Town of Caledon supports 27 Solar Projects throughout Caledon
Town of Caledon Council has reviewed and supported 27 solar photovoltaic projects that have the potential to generate 6350 kW of clean renewable energy within our community. If all the projects are granted a contract with the Ontario Power Authority (OPA), it is estimated that this new generation could power 1,000 homes.
This work is in response to the provincial Small Feed-in Tariff (FIT) electricity generation program accepting renewable energy applications. Though the municipality does not have approval authority over a project, support provided by Council plays an important role in determining if the project will receive a provincial FIT contract.
This new energy production within Caledon will reduce our demand on high carbon energy sources as well as stimulate the Caledon economy. Caledon Council continues to support renewable energy solutions that are well-suited for the Caledon community.
